Is mediation required by the courts? Would we have to mediate before a court hearing anyway?

Mediation is required in all family law cases in the state of Florida, and mediation must happen before you can have any court hearings. The one exception to the mediation requirement is if there's been a history of domestic violence, and the court finds that the domestic violence has been serious enough to waive the mediation requirement. If that exception does not apply to you, you will have to mediate your case before having any court hearings.
